Charter
In late 2007, the French Ministry for Culture launched a study to assess the possibility for creating a certification, degree or diploma for teaching "dances of the world", among them the Argentine Tango.
Behind a concern to clarify the professional position of dance teachers (in France), one may fear a risk of hijacking the education to these dances by some organizations more or less within the frame of regulations, like what happened to the classical dance in France for instance, of under the authority of organizations aka sport federations.
For this reason, the community of Argentine tango in France, split into a few hundreds of non-profit organizations,
organized a set of information / debate meetings during spring 2008 (see the website http://diplome.tango.free.fr (in French)). At the end of this brainstorming, a Charter for the Argentine tango Community was published in December 2008 and proposed for signature to everyone who shares its principles. A specific website has been set up for registering signatures: http://charte.tango.free.fr in French (translation in English, Spanish, German and Italian is underway).
